Symptoms
- Pain, redness, and swelling at the sting site
- Hives or raised, red patches of skin
- Itching of the skin or eyes
- Swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue
- Difficulty breathing or wheezing
- Dizziness or fainting
- Rapid heartbeat
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that impairs breathing and can send the body into shock

Honeybee (Apis mellifera) Allergen (I1) IgE
Honey bee venom contains various proteins that can act as allergens, causing allergic reactions in some individuals. These allergens, including Api m 1-4 and Api m 6, are part of a complex mixture of peptides, organic molecules, and other bioactive elements. The honeybee venom can trigger systemic allergic symptoms, sometimes leading to severe reactions like anaphylaxis.
